THE BIG CYPRESS COLLECTION Only 7,036 $3 gold pieces were struck for commerce in this Antebellum year, and as expected for such a low mintage, this date is RARE in Mint State, with PCGS CoinFacts estimating that only around 140 examples survive in Mint State. While "only" a MS61, this coin has a great look. Rich orange-gold patina shows off hints of soft blue and deep apricot-rose tones. The devices are crisply rendered by an exacting strike and show off razor sharp definition. A strong glass reveals some minor contact marks and light microscopic lines, which account for the assigned grade, but they do not detract from the outstanding visual allure. PCGS 18, NGC 35, CAC 2. No CAC-approved example has ever sold in auction. The most recent non-CAC PCGS MS61 sold for $6,000 in March 2022, almost a year ago. The current CAC CPG value is $8,180 and the PCGS Price Guide value is $8,000. A very pleasing coin that will surely delight any $3 gold collector. Cert. Number 5542074 PCGS # 7980
