FROM THE M & S PETTY COLLECTION A very flashy near-GEM that ranks among the VERY FINEST KNOWN of this late date. While over 1.1 million silver dollars were struck, few were saved and GEM quality examples are EXCESSIVELY RARE! There are only five coins graded finer at PCGS. Brilliant, virtually untoned silver surfaces shimmer and glimmer with a bold satiny luster in the fields and a frosted silver-white texture on the sharply defined devices. A similar silver iridescent hue with accents of gold cling to the fields, brought vibrantly to life by a bold underlying luster. The eye appeal is great!
