- An exceptionally high end and Premium Quality SUPERB GEM 1885 Proof nickel. Ranking among the absolute FINEST Proofs that survive to this day. Amazing, brilliant mirrored fields beam from across the room. The surfaces are completely free of any hairlines or other distractions. A light gold and icy blue hue reflects over the completely watery surfaces. The eye appeal is great! Demand for the 1885 Proof nickel has always been strong, as Gem Mint State 1885s are quite rare. PCGS 29, NGC 17, CAC 21. There are four in PR67+ and just two finer. The last PCGS/CAC PR67+ sold in January 2015 for $5,640 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $7,950. There has not been a PR68 sold in auction since August 2011, so if you are working on a very high end set, this may be as fine an example you will be able to find for a long, long time.
