- 1878/6 Octagonal 25 Cents. BG-799E. Rarity-7+. Indian Head. MS-64 PL (NGC). A wonderful, fully prooflike example of this extremely rare overdate variety, one with an extant population of just four or five coins per PCGS CoinFacts. Raised die line (as made) across the Native American's face. This variety, attributed to Christopher (Christoph) Ferdinand Mohrig, was discovered by Jay Roe in September 1981. It has been two decades since we last offered an example of BG-799E, underscoring the fleeting nature of this bidding opportunity for specialists.
