- Only the second date struck at the New Orleans mint, and the first since 1846, this date saw only 40,000 dollars struck, of which most went into circulation and stayed there. This date is VERY RARE in Mint State. Rich pewter silver surfaces show accents of lilac, rose, peach, gold and violet hues, imparting a totally original patination on both sides. Well struck and satiny in the fields. We do note some minor contact marks in the fields, but these are mostly toned over and unobtrusive to the eye appeal. PCGS 5, NGC 4. Extremely RARE any finer, NGC has graded just four finer, all MS64. The last NGC MS62 to sell was this coin, selling for $8,519, and before that, one sold in June 2016 for $10,530. Cert.
