- FROM THE INCLINE COLLECTION Like the 1961 above, this GEM is the SINGLE FINEST example! It is amazing that out of a mintage of over 229 million pieces, this MS65 FS is the SINGLE FINEST in the Full Step designation. Needless to say, the mint did not care at all about quality of strike, just the mass quantity of pieces they could churn out. Boldly lustrous with a nearly Prooflike flash in the fields on both obverse and reverse. The steps are fully formed, but other details show some bluntness, but more detailed than typically seen. The surfaces are wonderfully lustrous, with a brilliance rarely seen on this date. A true GEM quality coin, the surfaces show no serious flaws of any kind, even with the use of a powerful glass. The eye appeal for the date is truly magnificent, for a date that usually comes lackluster, pancake flat, and without any special characteristics that would make it a desired collectible. PCGS 1, NGC 0. This marvelous survivor is ex Nevadaman Collection, which sold in Bowers' August 2004 Rarities Sale, lot 557, where it realized a world record price of $23,000 which still stands to this day. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $27,500. Having been in this collection for the better part of 16 years, it will be the first time in a GENERATION to add the FINEST Full Step 61-D to your Jefferson nickel set! Expect this coin to break another world record when it crosses the block. Cert. Number 25154258 PCGS # 84070
