详细说明: A near-GEM specimen of the BD-1 die marriage. Rated as Rarity-4+, the Bass-Dannreuther reference estimates 80-100 are known in all grades. Of the six Capped Bust Right die pairings of the year, the BD-1 is identified as the only one to have small sized stars on the reverse. This piece clearly ranks in the Condition Census for the variety. An impressive example struck from Die State b/c with a die crack through the base of AT in STATES. A thickly frosted mint luster graces both sides of this well struck early five. There is a rich golden skin on both sides, the obverse shows some light breaks within the skin, but that is all that keeps this from grading a full GEM; the reverse clearly, on its own would grade MS65. The eye appeal is quite pleasing. PCGS 9, NGC 9. There are just four listed higher on the PCGS Population Report. The most recent examples have sold in the $30,000-$32,400 range.
