- 1721-H Sou, or 9 Deniers. La Rochelle Mint. Martin 3.8-B.2, W-11830. Rarity-6. EF-40 (PCGS). 87.0 grains. Superior quality for this common, yet condition sensitive type. Glossy light brown surfaces that show some natural planchet roughness but no marks or environmental damage of any consequence. Nicely struck throughout and just barely off center on the obverse. These copper 9 deniers or sou pieces were often referred to in 19th century catalogs as "Louisiana coppers." Provenance: From the Norman G. Peters Collection. PCGS# 158632.
