1859-S Liberty Half Eagle. AU-50 (NGC). A very rare coin at this grade level and prohibitive appreciably finer. The surfaces are pleasing, nicer than usually encountered for the grade level in fact. Well struck by the dies and natural light greenish-gold color. A small planchet flaw is noted on the right wing of the eagle. Date punch was placed very low in the die, with the 1 quite close to the dentil.
