- 1882 Morgan Silver Dollar. Proof-66 (NGC). Now here's a lovely specimen, a proof Morgan Dollar that is originally toned yet free of the dark patination often associated with such pieces. Instead we see iridescent golden toning with warmer reddish-orange peripheral highlights. The toning is so light that we have no difficulty appreciating a vibrant mint finish that, despite the lack of a Cameo designation as part of the grade, does include some contrast between the fields and devices. Smooth and nearly Superb, this high-end Gem numbers among the most appealing proof 1882 Morgans ever to pass across this cataloger's desk.
