- 1855 Liberty Seated Dime. Arrows. Fortin-101. Rarity-6+. Doubled Date. Proof-64 (PCGS). Deep gunmetal-blue with lively neon blue and violet highlights. The strike is bold, as is the eye appeal. Doubling noted at all four date numerals. Among the finest proofs of the date graded by PCGS, see below. A rare prize within the Liberty Seated dime discipline, struck in an unknown though undoubtedly small quantity; PCGS suggests as few as 15 to 20 proofs of the date can be accounted for today, while Jerry Fortin's seateddimevarieties.com website notes: ""Estimates of the number of surviving proof examples range from 12 to 15."" A rarity no matter how you figure it! One of the highlights among the Teich Family Liberty Seated dimes, a memorable coin with eye appeal and toning highlights that seemingly go above and beyond the call of duty for the grade, at least at the visual level.
