1739-N French Colonies Sou Marque. Montpellier Mint. Vlack-149b. Rarity-8. BENEDITUM Error. AU-58+ (PCGS). 29.4 grains. This is the only example of the 1739-N Sou Marque (struck at the Montpellier Mint), to be graded by PCGS, and none at all have been seen by NGC. This piece is well struck and displays an even coating of warm lilac-gray patina. The smooth surfaces display faint porosity, and brief die cracks at 3 o'clock on each side, but no detracting abrasions or contact marks are evident. BENEDICTUM is misspelled as BENEDITUM along the reverse border.
