S-2639; Fr-242; N-2115. Third coinage, fifth bust. Weight: 9.17 gms. Obverse: Laureate, draped, and armored bust left; XX (mark of value) to right; Reverse: Square-topped coat-of-arms over long cross fourchee; crown above. Incredibly attractive and enticing, this choice gold issue from late in the reign of the Scottish-born James presents dazzling brilliance and a rather sharp strike, with intricate care given to the execution of the monarch's hair and beard.
