- ECUADOR. Ecuador - Galapagos Islands. 2 Decimos, ND (ca. 1900). PCGS VF-25. KM-55. Fantasy Countermark RA. Struck on an Ecuadorian 1/2 Decimo, 1891. A well circulated example of the type with part of the countermark not punched fully. A few theories have come out about the possible use of these countermarks. Most believe they are the initials of well-known merchant, Rogelio Alvarado, of Guayaquil. Another theory is they were used to pay prisoners.
