While most of the series of silver and gold coins began utilizing John Reich’s popular Capped Bust design in 1807 to 1815; the half dimes were the last to come on board, in 1829. This was the first mintage of half dimes since 1805. Among the top half dozen examples graded y PCGS, this is an intensely brilliant Capped Bust half dime! Heart stopping mint bloom radiates throughout the surfaces with flashy hints of subtle reflection in the untoned silver, which shimmers from all over. The devices are crisp and sharp. Only a tiny tick or two can be found with the aid of a strong glass, and is more than acceptable given the overall eye appeal. PCGS 12, NGC 23, CAC 7. PCGS has graded 2 in MS66+ and neither of them have ever sold in auction. The only MS66 with CAC approval to sell in auction was the Eric Newman coin that was graded by NGC, which realized $5,288 in November 2013. In MS66+ the PCGS price Guide value is listed at $6,000. Only four are graded finer, making this a SUPERB example for the date or type! Bid accordingly. Cert. Number 38965222 PCGS # 4276
