- ECUADOR. Moneda De Quito. 8 Reales, ND (1831). PCGS AG-03 Gold Shield. KM-9. VERY RAREhost with "NUEVA GRANADA" as this "MDQ" countermark is normally found on 1820-21 issues. Monogram countermark slightly unevenly applied on an 1819-JF Columbia 8 Reales (KM-78). Obverse nicely toned with the date and legend bold while the reverse is nearly worn slick although ". F . NUE[VA] GRAN[ADA]" can be made out. A charming problem free example sure to excite the specialist. Countermark FINE or thereabouts; Host coin Estimate: $350 - $500.
