THE B.S.T. COLLECTION A gorgeous GEM JR-2! Certainly high up in the Condition Census for this Rarity-2 die pairing, the 1825 dime is RARE in such a lofty state of preservation. The present coin is very attractively toned with totally original apple-green and golden-brown patina over exceptionally well preserved surfaces. A satiny luster glows from below the antique toning, enlivening the colors as the light hits the brilliance at varying angles. Somewhat bluntly struck in, on the reverse, as usually seen on this date, the eye appeal is wonderful and there are no serious traces of contact anywhere. PCGS 5, NGC 8, CAC 4. This coin brought $16,800 in December 2021. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $20,000 and the CAC CPG is $21,600. There are only half a dozen graded higher; the only two CAC approved examples finer to sell were the MS65+ Bender Collection coin at $21,600 in February 2023 and the Eliasberg-Gardner MS66 at $35,250 back in May 2015.
