- GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, ND (ca. 1210-13). London Mint; Raulf, moneyer. John. PCGS AU-53.
S-1353; N-974/2. Short cross coinage, class VIa; struck in the name of Henry II. Obverse: Crowned bust facing, holding scepter; Reverse: Voided short cross, with quatrefoils in angles. The finest example of the type ever certified by PCGS, with a scope of detail far outstripping other examples from the period. Clear design elements and legends form a good strike on an unclipped planchet, with very little evidence of handling present.
Estimate: $100 - $200.
Provenance: From the Runze Collection.
