- THE BOYLSTON COLLECTION SOLE FINEST GRADED FOR THE VARIETY. This coin screams original, GEM! Rolling frosty cartwheel luster bounces off the surfaces and accentuates fully defined design elements. Toned in a wash of peach and gold toning over silvery gray fields. A couple of toning spots are noted for accuracy. One on Liberty’s head (a distinguishing feature, making this coin easy to trace) as well as a small one in the right obverse field. Thankfully no one has dipped off the color and so it remains as pristine as the day it was coined! Many mint state examples of New Orleans Mint Seated halves remain, as there was little numismatic interest in them at the time they were coined. Interestingly, New Orleans was the only branch mint to strike halves from the 1830s through 1854. WB-12 R-3. Medium Date, Medium Letters. A prized rarity that has the storied Richard Jewell Collection as part of it’s provenance. PCGS 6, NGC 3, CAC 3. Just 1 + designated example and this is it! PCGS Price Guide is $15,000. A mere two coins grade finer, an MS-65 PCGS and an NGC MS-66. This example most recently sold in July 2017 for $11,163 and is from the Jascha Heifetz Collection. Back when the market was stronger, it traded hands at auction for $22,375 in July 2013. We anticipate the coin will trade closer to it’s market high in 2013 considering the limited availability and red hot coin market. Opportunity is knocking loudly here! Worthy of a world class cabinet! Cert. Number 35838158 PCGS # 6242.00
