An exemplary SUPERB GEM Mint State example of this low mintage late date Seated Liberty quarter. Blazing cartwheel brilliance swirls boldly across the surfaces. The intense luster brings out a vivacity to the pastel iridescent toning that gracefully ensconces both obverse and reverse. Soft green and blue tinged pewter with rose and orange-gold dappling throughout the peripheral devices and in the central reverse. The surfaces are devoid of any serious marks and the eye appeal is excellent. Only 12,000 quarters were struck in 1889. As had been the case throughout the decade, due to the mint's focus on churning out hundreds of millions of Morgan dollars, the mintages of quarters and half dollars dropped dramatically, most years saw mintages under 10,000. This is a SUPERB example from this low mintage, and as a date, these are VERY RARE any finer. PCGS 24, NGC 26, CAC 16. The current CAC CPG value is listed at $6,470 and the PCGS Price Guide is $5,500. Fewer than 10 are graded higher, making this a SUPERB coin for any collector looking for an example of the type or date! Cert. Number 42609468 PCGS # 5522
