Conditionally VERY RARE, despite a mintage of over 6.5 million pieces, this 1918 Philadelphia Walker is among the HIGHEST GRADED at PCGS (tied for second finest at PCGS with just a single MS66+ finer). A thickly frosted, satin-like luster blooms from all over on this exceptionally eye catching PQ GEM. The faintest pearly, iridescent overtone offers a soft pale golden color that is brought out by the glowing luster. Well struck throughout, the intricate details of the design are fully brought out on both sides. The fields and devices are clean, without any marks of consequence worthy of mention. The eye appeal is quite nice.
PCGS 12, NGC 12. This one sold for $13,800 back in December 2019 and there has not been one sold in auction since November 2020, where one realized $11,400; the market has certainly improved since the early days of the Covid pandemic and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $19,000. The single finest MS66+ sold for $45,600 in the 2022 FUN auction. What an important opportunity for the Walking Liberty collector to take advantage of, do not let it pass you by!
