Obv:Standard Silver design with a bust of Liberty facing right, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the border and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on a scroll below. Liberty is wearing a cap ornamented with three stars, a plain ribbon crosses her shoulder. Rev:A wreath of laurel and oak encircles the denomination 10 CENTS with the inscription STANDARD SILVER above and the date 1870 below. Bright, brilliant surfaces allow full appreciation of cameo contrast between satiny design elements and mirrored fields. The 10th edition of the Judd reference on pattern coinage states that only two examples of this number are extant, but the uspatterns.comwebsite reports fewer than a half dozen known.
