- MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1743/2-Mo MF. Mexico City Mint. Philip V. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield. Fr-8; KM-148; Onza-440. Pale yellow colored with strong detail within the raised designs and glorious reflective gleam in the fields; an artifact of the pre-struck planchet, a few ghosted parallel lines cross the obverse and represents where planchet adjustments once existed. While faint, a small curvature at the top of 3 in the date confirms the 3/2 overdate, noted a "muy rara" in La Onzaversus the "rara" clean date variety. Estimate: $4,000 - $6,000.
