详细说明: 1791 Washington Liverpool Halfpenny. Musante GW-19, Baker-17, W-10650. Copper. Lettered Edge. AU-55 (PCGS). Frosty golden-brown with blushes of steel-olive and rose that are most pronounced near the upper obverse border. Well centered on the usual tight planchet, with fully legible legends and only the bottoms of the date digits off the flan. The central devices on both sides are exceptionally bold for the issue, although characteristic softness is evident at the top of Washington's head on the obverse, forward part of the ship's hull on the reverse. The usual oval of raised die texture is visible at the left side of the obverse, but no heavy marks or significant lines are present. Given the lightly circulated grade of most survivors, it seems likely that some proportion of these were mixed into kegs of Small Eagle and Large Eagle cents and circulated stateside. Whether this rare muling ever made it to the United States or not, it remains an issue that has been classically ranked high in desirability by American collectors. PCGS# 698. NGC ID: 2B7H.
