FROM THE DR. STEPHEN DAVIDSON COLLECTION A vibrantly brilliant SUPERB GEM Proof Liberty nickel, tied for second FINEST graded! Liquid mercury type reflectivity in the fields beam boldly in the light. The sharply struck devices show good frost, but there is just not enough contrast to warrant a CAM designation. The surfaces are icy and free of any lines or distractions of any kind, even devoid of any real toning. The visual allure is stunning! PCGS 57, NGC 28, CAC 28. There are 11 in PR67+ and just four in PR68 graded finer. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $2,150 and a PR68 will cost into the five figures, especially for a CAC approved example.
