- 1796 Draped Bust Cent. S-115. Rarity-3+. Reverse of 1797. VF-25 (PCGS). Medium golden-brown patina blankets surfaces that are smooth in hand and virtually blemish free. Well struck for the die state, most features are sharp at the VF grade level. The obverse is cracked through the date with associated die swell over the lower left of Liberty's portrait, which also explains the lack of detail in the opposing area on the reverse, around the uppermost leaves in the wreath. A minor flan flaw is well concealed within the back of the portrait and hardly worth mentioning. Definitely a pleasing mid grade survivor of the first year, key date 1796 Draped Bust cent.
