This date is very rare in so lofty a grade. An impressive, high end, totally original GEM that ranks near the top of the Condition Census O-112. This is a somewhat scarcer variety, rated as R-3. An incredible quality Capped Bust half dollar with a vibrant underlying luster radiates from below a dappled mix of olive, tan, pale slate, and warm gold patina on both sides. Every detail is well rendered from an exacting blow from the dies. Even with a strong glass we can only find a tiny trace of contact mostly hidden below the toning. PCGS 4, NGC 7, CAC 4. Only two coins are graded finer for the date, one in 65+ and the other a 66. This coin sold for $18,213 in our December 2019 Regency Auction and prior to that, one sold for $19,200 in April 2019 and another sold for $22,325 in June 2017. The CAC CPG value is listed at $19,200. With this being near the very top of the Population, bidding should be intense when it crosses the block. An important opportunity not to be missed by anyone!
