- THE B.S.T. COLLECTION Ex. D. Brent Pogue Collection, as noted on the insert. What a GORGEOUS GEM 1837 quarter eagle! This coin is simply STUNNING and is the second FINEST KNOWN of the date at either service and the FINEST with CAC approval. Boasting an incredibly brilliant, glowing, golden mint brilliance, the surfaces are satiny and dripping with an intense originality that is a delight to look at. We have had a very hard time putting this beauty down! A seductive golden color varies in its hues as you rotate it in a light. Accents of amber, rose, and tangerine highlight the peripheral devices, while the central devices are a more frosty yellow gold coloration. The design elements are exemplar in their bold impression from an exacting blow from the dies. A stray line or tick can be found with effort and a strong glass, none of which have any impact on the bold visual statement this coin makes. Ex. Heritage, August 2004, lot 7163; Charleston Collection, Heritage, June 2008, lot 1804; D. Brent Pogue, via Larry Hanks; D. Brent Pogue Collection, Part II, Stack's Bowers/Sotheby's, September 2015, lot 2064; our consignor, via Legend Numismatics. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. This coin brought $58,750 in September 2015. Today the CAC CPG value is listed at $79,200 and the PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $70,000. The Bass-Stellar-Haynor MS65+ is not CAC approved and brought $72,000 in August 2022. This one, with its CAC approval, should see fast and furious bidding and realize a new record bid for the date. Bound for a WORLD CLASS gold type set or advanced collection of Classic gold coins. Good luck. Cert. Number 31694494 PCGS # 7695
