GERMANY. Hesse-Cassel. Taler, 1862-CP. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. Dav-697; KM-621.1. This type was issued 1858-65 and comes with and without the engraver's initials "C.P." on the truncation of the bust; this offering with the "C.P." Slightly prooflike fields elevate the eye appeal. The Elector chose the wrong side in the Austro-Prussian war of 1866 and had his domain annexed to Prussia for his pains. Estimate: $150 - $250.
