- 1738-K Sou Marque. Bordeaux Mint. Vlack-121. Rarity-8. VF-20 (PCGS). 26.6 grains. Another extremely rare sou marque issue from a mint entirely unrepresented in the Ford Collection. All dates from Bordeaux are at least difficult to find and of the seven issue years known, six of them are extremely rare. This example of the first year of issue has a bold mintmark and date. The surfaces are rough, particularly on the reverse, that side is indistinctly struck up, central obverse also somewhat soft. Deep antique gold and steel-gray patina to both sides.
