- 1902 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. Proof-63 (PCGS). An otherwise universally reflective specimen with a modest satin texture to the devices on the reverse. Both sides are aglow in vivid golden yellow patina that provides additional appeal. Beginning with this issue, the Mint struck Proof Liberty Head quarter eagles from dies that were polished both in the field areas and the recesses that contained the design elements. As a result, cameo-finish examples of the Proof issues dated 1902 through 1907 are in the distinct minority among survivors. The coin offered here comes down to us from a mintage of 193 Proofs and would do equally well in a specimen type or date set. PCGS# 7928. NGC ID: 288S. Provenance: From the Alexander Collection.
