- 1869 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. AU-58 (PCGS). A delightful example, both sides are sharply struck throughout with vivid golden yellow patina and bright satin to semi-reflective luster. Elusive in all grades, the 1869 was produced to the extent of just 2,500 circulation strikes. Survivors number fewer than 300 coins, the typical offering in today's market being for an EF or low end AU coin.
