- THE J B N SET Ex Charles Shultz Collection, as noted on the insert. Among the FINEST graded at either service, this is a gorgeous SUPERB GEM teetering on being SHEER PERFECTION! While the economy picked up as the U.S. mobilized for war, and the mintage of half dollars at Philadelphia surpassed 24 million, there are precious few that survive in this lofty state of preservation. While PCGS and NGC have each graded about three dozen in MS68, we believe that these numbers are dramatically inflated by crossover, resubmissions, upgrade attempts, etc. Just a single MS68+ has ever graded higher than the present example at PCGS. Incredible mint luster blooms boldly on both sides with an intense brilliance over satiny smooth surfaces. The surfaces are essentially FLAWLESS with nothing that would detract from the stunning visual allure and technical qualities. The central devices are crisply rendered from an exacting blow from the dies; even Liberty's thumb is fully formed and separated from her body. The eye appeal is exceptional. Ex Dawson Oskey; Charles Schultz; our consignor. PCGS 36, NGC 35. The most recent non-CAC PCGS MS68 sold for $6,600 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $16,500. There is a single MS68+ at PCGS, a coin that brought $50,400 nearly two years ago. This high end example should bring a strong bid, in excess of the recent auction records for sure. A coin worthy of the FINEST of sets. Cert. Number 46519784 PCGS # 6611
