详细说明: 1877-CC Trade Dollar. Tall CC. MS-64 (NGC). This is a gorgeous Mint State example from the penultimate date of trade dollar production for circulation. A rich frosty sheen and dynamic cartwheel effects are evident across mostly brilliant surfaces, further examination reveals a lovely pale gold and russet-gold peripheral accents. The design motifs are fully struck, with razor-sharp definition noted throughout. A handful of trivial contact marks on the obverse seemingly prevent a Gem assessment from NGC, but the eye appeal and surface quality is much finer than one would expect even for this lofty grade. Despite a generous mintage of 534,000 pieces these did not survive in high grades, and most were melted in the generations following their issue. This is certainly one of the top twenty known--and most of that number are tied at the desirable Mint State-64 grade level. Gems are prohibitive as the combined number certified between NGC and PCGS reports just three grading events at Mint State-65 or finer for this date and mint. An imperial offering for the advanced Trade dollar or Carson City specialist to acquire and a coin which any collector will long be proud to own.
