Another SUPERB 1879 minor coin, one of the FINEST known examples of this low mintage date. only 13,600 were struck, as the mint moved its attention to coining millions of silver dollars. The present SUPERB GEM is exceptionally lustrous with a bold fully Prooflike, reflective luster that swirls with impeccably smooth, pristine cartwheels on both sides. Framed by a touch of peripheral patina, this beautiful coin has fully frosted and sharply struck devices that stand out from the flawless fields. An unbelievable beauty that is truly a delight to behold. PCGS 28, NGC 21, CAC 18. There are only six examples graded 67+ and there are a mere two pieces graded finer. This one is heads and shoulders above the other examples that have sold and should bring a price in excess of the current PCGS Price Guide value of $7,500.
