- FROM THE EUEL DURWOOD JONES COLLECTION A glorious PQ example for the grade and we have no doubt, in the old days, this brilliantly lustrous coin would have been called a GEM. An intensely vivid luster blooms all over, highlighting the bright golden surfaces. The fields are satiny and smooth, devoid of any serious marks of any kind. The devices are crisply defined, boldly rendered by an exacting blow from the dies. The eye appeal is wonderful for the issue and grade, and we consider it very high end. Often designated as the No Motto type, the correct designation should also include No Periods, as the periods surrounding the legend E PLURIBUS UNUM on the earlier Wire Rim and Rounded Rim types were removed and the relief modified. This is the first “affordable" $10 Indian, as the Wire and Rolled Rim types are major rarities. PCGS 1054, NGC 832, CAC 157. PCGS has graded only 64 in MS64+ and it is considered scarce in MS65. The most recent example to sell in auction realized $7,800 in February 2022 and in April 2022 an NGC MS64 CAC sold for $9,000. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $8,000 and we would not be surprised if this beauty brought that or more. Bound for a wonderful collection of 20th century gold pieces. Cert. Number 45902359 PCGS # 8852
