- AFGHANISTAN. Mohur, AH 1256 (1840). Kabul Mint. Shah Shuja' al-Mulk. PCGS Genuine--Plugged and Clipped, AU Details.
Fr-11; cf. KM-487 (date not listed); Album-3144. Weight: 7.42 gms. Struck during the First Anglo-Afghan War (1839-1842). Boldly struck with well defined devices, this handsome looking piece offers a pleasing appearance and much originality. Close inspection reveals that the edges have been severely clipped, more than 2.5 gms, and a crudely plugged hole at 7 o'clock accounting for the details designation. Despite its shortcomings a presentable example of the type for the collector on a budget.
Estimate: $400 - $500.
Provenance: Ex: CNG E-Auction (9/2007) Lot # 1735.
