- This is a stellar example of what is known as "the caviar of numismatics." All classic Proof gold types are rare, with very low mintages and even lower survival rates. In 1906, 160 Proof quarter eagles were coined, of which John Dannreuther estimates 100-120 survive in all grades. This STUNNING SUPERB GEM is among the FINEST KNOWN of this date in any category, and is the FINEST endorsed by CAC. The fields are AMAZING! Outstanding mirrors are super deep and beam vividly from all over. When you twirl the coin, the mirrored reflective fields look like liquid gold flowing smoothly across the surfaces. Both sides are an original, brilliant orange-gold color with accents of deeper reddish-gold patina around the periphery. Miss Liberty and every detail are fully struck and a thick frosted texture creating a contrast that is clear and bold. The eye appeal is fantastic! PCGS 5, NGC 19, CAC 7. This is the SOLE PR67+ CAM graded at PCGS and there is just a single PR68 CAM finer (not CAC approved). The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $45,000 in PR67+ CAM and it jumps to $75,000 in PR68 CAM. This is an amazing and important opportunity for the advanced gold collector. Good luck!
