This is the SINGLE FINEST graded 1860 quarter in Mint State! The quality is absolutely stunning from the standpoint of both technical and aesthetic appeal. A strong, brilliant luster shines under a dusting of iridescent toning. Shades of sea-green and gold are brought out by the stunning silver luster. Nicely struck, save for some of the obverse stars, which show some bluntness at the centers. The pristine surfaces are devoid of any serious marks, and a strong glass fails to pinpoint anything that would be worthy of mention. The eye appeal is SUPERB. It is amazing to imagine that a circulation strike example could survive the ravages of the Civil War and economic upheavals it created the following year in such a pristine state of preservation.
