- 1892-S Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-60 (PCGS). OGH. One of the leading condition rarities in the long-running and ever-popular Morgan Dollar series, the 1892-S is an important find even at the basal Mint State grade level. This is because the vast majority of survivors of this 1.2 million-piece delivery are well worn, with even AUs scarce by the standards of the type. Obviously, most coins from this issue were either placed into circulation at or near the time of striking or were destroyed under the terms of the 1918 Pittman Act.<br /> With one of the lowest certified populations in Mint State for any Morgan Silver Dollar, this strictly graded BU would serve as a highlight of any advanced collection. The coin is solidly Mint State with no wear to sharply impressed devices. There are also no outwardly distracting abrasions, but the surfaces are subdued and a bit glossy in texture beneath smoky golden-gray patina, thus explaining the MS-60 designation assigned by PCGS. Even so, glints of original luster shine forth nicely at more direct angles. An important find!
