Ex Northern Lights-Roadrunner, as noted on the insert.
Called Electric Splash in our May 2017 (lot 336) offering of the Northern Lights, and reoffered as lot 251 in our October 2020 Regency Auction where it was described as:
"Such a unique toning pattern! Two distinct bands of rainbow color intersect to a point behind Liberty's head at about 3:00 opening up wide so that the face and field in front of the profile are either just a light gold or virtually untoned. At first it looks as though an alligator's mouth is trying to swallow Liberty's head, though, it also gives the appearance of a spotlight focusing Liberty's gaze forward. Those bands of color start at the rims as a teal blend of pastels, deepening into magenta and amber, before fading into gold of varying intensity. The color easily rates an 8.5 on our 10-point scale and the eye appeal is very impressive overall! A few light lines, the most visible is a short scratch in front of Liberty's eye, are all that we can see that keeps this GEM from an even higher grade. The luster beams boldly and brilliantly all over, giving depth and dimension to the color as you rotate the surfaces in the light, and gives off a flashy, almost Prooflike reflection on the untoned reverse. Sharply struck, this 79-S has A TON of eye appeal! Truly a marvelous toner, one that will see very strong bidding for sure. This cataloger for one, really loves when the toning pattern shows two very distinct bands of toning."
When this coin sold the last two times it was an MS66, it has since been awarded a "+" and should sell for a very strong bid. Worthy of another WORLD CLASS collection of monster toners--just think Northern Lights-Roadrunner-YOU!
