1945-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar. MS-67+ (PCGS). CAC. Brilliant and pearlescent centers are framed by an autumnal blend of crimson, emerald and golden iridescence. This beautiful color is illuminated by intense underlying luster. The surfaces are essentially untouched and the eye appeal is immense. Interestingly for an issue with a relatively limited mintage of 9.9 million pieces, the 1945-D is one of the more frequently encountered Walking Liberty half dollar "short set" issues in Mint State. Hundreds of thousands of such coins are extant, and certified examples are quite available in grades up to and including MS-66. Any finer, however, and the conditionally rare nature of the 1945-D comes to the fore. This PCGS MS-67+ ranks among the finest certified survivors, as only two coins have been graded finer by PCGS.
