- Exquisite Near-Gem 1740/39-W Sou Marque 1740/39-W Sou Marque. Lille Mint. Vlack-201a. Rarity-5. MS-64+ (PCGS). 34.1 grains. This stunning specimen sports full silvering and full, original mint frost. Well centered and predominantly sharp in strike, traces of roughness in the planchet are most pronounced in the center of the obverse, but even so hardly detract. Expertly produced with abundant eye appeal, if one wanted to acquire a single sou marque from this offering for type purposes, this near-Gem from the Lille Mint would be a strong contender.
