- 1876-S Liberty Head Eagle. EF-40 (PCGS). Warmly patinated surfaces are bathed in even honey-apricot color. Plenty of sharp striking detail remains, and the persistent viewer will be further rewarded with glints of original mint luster. With only 5,000 coins struck, the 1876-S eagle boasts the second lowest mintage of the San Francisco Mint issues in the Liberty Head eagle series. Unknown in Mint State, this issue is scarce to rare in all circulated grades with an extant population of just 80 to 100 coins (per PCGS CoinFacts).
