- 1822 Capped Bust Quarter. B-1. Rarity-2. MS-62 (NGC). A scarcer issue in the challenging Capped Bust Quarter series, the 1822 has an estimated mintage of just 64,080 pieces. Conditionally scarce at the BU grade level, both sides of this coin are evenly toned in charcoal-gray patina. At more direct angles we do see lighter pale-gold and blue-gray undertones. Boldly struck in most areas, only the obverse stars reveal mentionable softness of detail, although this feature is commonplace in examples of this die marriage. Free of outwardly distracting abrasions.
