Some confusion exists as to the metallic composition of this piece, with the NGC insert mentioning copper, but the piece itself comparing far more closely with the type identified as "gold-painted copper" in the Gold & Silver Coin Panda Buyer's Guide. The consignor identifies this piece as brass, and in fact, this assessment seems most fit. Whatever the case, a lovely production of this massive medal, with sharp features and a design that incorporates all the designs used in Panda coinage series up to the time of striking.
