详细说明: 1798/7 Draped Bust Dime. JR-1. Rarity-3. 16 Stars. MS-65 (NGC). JR-1 is the second most plentiful die marriage of the 1798 Draped Bust Dime, and it is the more common of the two overdate varieties of this issue. It accounts for approximately 40% of known examples of this date (per the John Reich Collectors Society, 1984), and has even provided modern collectors with a small number of Mint State survivors for inclusion in advanced cabinets. All of these things being said, we would be remiss if we did not say that all early Dimes are at least scarce when offered in Mint State, and most are genuinely rare. Only small percentages of the original mintages escaped circulation, and even fewer coins were then fortunate enough to be handled with enough care over the years so as not to acquire appreciable rub or other significant detractions.<br /> Solidly in the Condition Census for both the issue and the die pair, this lovely Gem belongs in the finest numismatic cabinet. It is a smooth, satiny Gem with rich antique-copper patina throughout. Generally bold in strike, with eye appeal to spare.
