- From the B. Cohen Collection, as noted on the insert. What a gorgeous and high end for the grade Kagin-1, which is the first of the Bechtler gold coins, struck on 30-grain planchets. Crisply struck with fully defined devices on both sides, the details show good centering with nearly full dentilation on the rims. Barely the slightest trace of friction can be detected on either obverse or reverse. A bold luster remains in the fields with a decent "flash" throughout. A few ancient hairlines are seen, and the crude nature of the production left a few minor rim issues, but these appear, for the most part, to be as made. Rich gold patina frames lighter yellow gold. The eye appeal of this piece is very high end, and is not the typical drab conserved pieces seen in the market. PCGS 12, NGC 16. The most recent examples have sold in the $8,700 to $25,850 range. Clearly there is a wide range of APRs, determined by the eye appeal and overall quality. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $11,500. This one is quite nice, and should see very spirited bidding when this beauty crosses the block. Cert. Number 5907482-002 PCGS # 10064.00
