- SCOTLAND. Gold Marriage Medal, (1558) (ca. 1860-70). Paris Mint. Mary with Francis II of France. PCGS SPECIMEN-63 Gold Shield. Eimer-40. Restrike issue. Commemorating the royal marriage. By Salmson. Obverse: Busts of Francis, armored, and Mary, draped, facing one another, each wearing elaborate collars; crown above; Reverse: Crowned coat-of-arms; crowned monogram to left and right. Intensely prooflike and lustrous, this type is VERY RARE in gold. For completeness, some scattered hairlines and a few spots of green are noted on the obverse. Estimate: $7,000 - $8,000.
