- This is a GORGEOUS example! The surfaces are essentially PRISTINE with a great eye appeal. Having built the #1 all time set of Indian Head eagles, our sister firm, Legend Numismatics has handled many of these over the years. This coin really impressed them when it was consigned. Outstanding surfaces are very clean and using a strong glass we found only a couple of small old ticks. No question this coin is original and has never been messed with. A bold thick satin-like luster glows from all over accenting the outstanding apricot and rose tinged gold surfaces. There are NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and do stand out. The eye appeal is terrific! PCGS 155, CAC 165, CAC 64. There are 39 graded MS66+ at PCGS and with just a dozen graded finer, we suspect that there is plenty of duplication of submissions of the same coin hoping for a 67 grade. The most recent PCGS/CAC example to sell in auction realized $21,238 in our January 2019 Regency Auction; and the average APR for a PCGS MS66+ CAC coin is nearly $21,000 making the $15,000 Collectors Universe value irrelevant for CAC-approved examples. Keep in mind, we sold a PCGS 67 CAC in our October 2017 Regency Auction for $82,250. This beauty is very high end and is very close to being the definition of SUPERB! Cert.
